Is it weird that I find myself no longer wanting to go visit the land down under due to Holden's untimely passing? No more ute? No more RWD Commodore? What is this world coming to? Before you say anything, I realize there is a lot more to Australia than their cars, however, it's those type of different things that help shape the landscape and contribute to the overall culture of an area.

I'm sad. I know it's a financial/business move and that it's probably best for a global player like GM but it's still sad.

Below is one of my favorite imports from down under. It wasn't long for this world (a fate I fear will be bestowed upon the SS as well) but it was aggressive and had the mechanicals to back it up. The Pontiac G8 GXP, folks.

it is sad, the new VF commodore is a cracker from all reports, but the writing was on the wall since Ford packed up. A lot of the suppliers here supply to all 3 (Ford, Holden, Toyota), so with one, now two going, the economies of scale aren't there, so you will see Toyota pack up shop too.

Indeed. I just hope that GM continues the type of building and designing passion that came out of them in the last few years. The Commodore and the like wouldn't have been green lit here in the states and I wonder if that would change now.
